For baby sleep troubles get the book: Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child...it was a saviour for us. Good Luck.
I had a very wakeful baby and #2 is a wakeful toddler.
Depending on the age of the child there are a few different things to try: make sure the room they sleep in is warm enough, a cold child has a hard time sleeping (this is my current problem, she kicks off her blankets several times through the night)
Is the child hungry? If solid foods have already been introduced, try a small bowl of cereal before bed (pablum type for younger, rice crispies and such for older), if the child is still on liquid diet (bottle or nursing) feed just before putting them down or try a "dream feed" to top them off before you retire for the night. If you are nursing, some recommend supplementing with a 4oz. formula feed before bed, as it takes longer to digest and gives them a sense of "full" for a longer period of time.
Other than that, there are A LOT of books with A LOT of advice, just keep trying. They do grow out of it, in the teen years you'll be wondering where the wakeful little one went and cursing your Rip van Winkle.

I think you were asking about the flu shots awhile back. I just found out from my pediatrician that this years shots didn't work. They missed the mark.
