Well,
my coworker just won $35,000 from Country 105 this morning!
I think I'll listen to them.
501 entries and no Harley.
Sad.

Congrats to your co-worker! Big bucks, no whammies! =D

I feel your frustration. I became a freeloader in the first days of the promotion, have collected points faithfully, have spent all the points on entries (have yet to purchase anything from the store) and haven't won a single thing.

In fact, I lost a bunch of entries from the Elton John concert contest a couple of months back - there they were gone. *poof*

Gone are the good ol' days of phone-in contests where you got instant gratification. ...Or instant disappointment. But hey, atleast you KNEW right away, one way or the other!

I used to listen for the word of the day. When I discovered this blog, I felt a bit guilty, like I was cheating or something. I could care less anymore.

Frankly, I don't want to make the effort to listen at certain times since I'm not getting a thing out of it anyhow. I guess after all this time, it's understandable that I'm jaded.

Enjoy the country music! And good luck with their contests.

Ouch. I have over 1 million points thinking I stood a chance on one big point dump... guess I was wrong! At any rate, this has been fun reading the blogs, the occasional controversy (LOL), and has been kinda like playing an Atari game - you get points, but it takes committment. You think Jack reads this blog? I'd bet my million points they do!

Thanks to all!

Well, I did win tickets to see Crowded House a few ages ago, so it's worked out for me. I usually go mostly for the Concerts but throw a few entries on the Showcases just in case.

I won a Bar B Q for 20 and I also won dinner for 2 at a Wine Event that was really a lot of fun.

does anyone ever win the $1000 with the wotd ever? Or is that just to keep you listening?

I think the $1000 is for all of Roger's stations, not just for each one. I know Lite 96 says that there is $1000 a day up for grabs too. As for Country 105, I used to collect points from them too, and it is so time consuming as they have a great deal of songs to enter for points. Their prizes are not as great or as easy to get as they used to be either - good luck! I have been lucky to get tickets / prizes from both Jack and Lite 96 - it just takes time and one can't get too disappointed if you don't get what you are after - there are just so many others after the same thing - it is all for "free" too! Don't get discouraged!

Let's say 1/4 of all Calgarians listen to Jack FM and half of that number are Freeloaders. That's about 125,000 people. It's easy to have 500,000 points and at 500 points per entry, that's roughly 1000 entries each in their "bank". If everyone puts just 10% of their points into showcases, that's 12.5 million entries. If you put in 501 entries your actual chance to win is only is 1 in 25,000.
Someone said they're going to listen to country music just because they didn't win based on those odds...
Sad.

I'm not a fan of country music, could you tell? ;)

It's frustrating to keep playing for "nothing" but at least it cost nothing! I'd hate to know how much I've wasted on lottery tickets in my life but I'll keep playing them just in case...

(Legal disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek commentary, not a personal attack on anyone who likes country music or is considering leaving the Freeloader program for any reason, please do not take it personally.)
