For women Valentine's Day is a popularity contest when they are young. When they are older and married or with a significant other, then it becomes a contest of who gets the best most expensive gift. (because Valentine's Day has become all about competing over who gets what best, and goodness help you if you don't send these tokens of love into the workplace to be seen by all!) I love my soon to be husband with all my heart and soul, I don't need a special day in February to prove it. The wedding date is set, and that is all I need. Enough with the commercialism already! Sorry, I'm a little jaded, I just think it is a really unnecessary waste of money. Why can't couples show their love for one another on different days of the year or week by just respecting one another, actually working on their relationships, and staying together like our grandparents did?
And heaven help the single ladies out there! For them, due to all the competitiveness and such, it is the loneliest day of the year!

What is the point of Valentine's Day? If you really need a specific day of the year to express your love for someone, then obviously there is something wrong with your relationship because you shouldn't have to be prompted or forced into! I absolutely agree that single people often fall victim to this 'special' day as well. With saying all this, I will still buy some roses and take may wife out for a nice dinner (hopefully something more imaginative though) for Valentine's Day. Until then I'll continue being cynical!

I have to agree with the stopping of the commercialism. It's getting out of hand.

i am not a fan of valentines day either my boyfriend stresses about it too much cause to all of his previous girlfriends it was important. Gold diggers lol. The commercialism is so bad for our holidays nothing is just about love family and friends anymore. It is all what is most expensive and who can out do each other!! Blah and we shouldnt have to have holidays to be intimate with our partners!! Should be everyday!! lol

my hubby and i actually decided not to give into commercialism and dont buy Valentines gift, birthdya gifts, christmas gifts, or anniversary gifts....not even cards...yes we acknowledge these days and love one another, but as adults we dont feel the need to have to go out and buy expensive gifts, we go out for dinner, have a cake on birthdays, and at Christmas the gifts are for the children, we buy for our children gifts on these important dates but not us. Really, if i wanted something or he, we dont need to wait for a "special date" we just go out and get what we need....

breakdown for the 12 o'clock hour.

"Wide Open" for 1 o'clock.

i wonder how they award the petty tickets? is it the first 2 people who log in the bonus code or what? any thoughts?

Anonymous said...

I'm thinking the choice is based on timing. They pick a time when they will give away the tickets, and whoever gets closest to that time wins them. Just a thought.

"Walls" for 3 o'clock.

Personally, I would just write an algorithm that randomly selects a person from the database when they enter the code - but their not that smart so, I guess not
